Seasons

I so love the changing of the seasons. The cool morning air, the warmth of the furnace, and the first smell of rain in the spring, are some of my favorite things. On my way to drop off my girls at their school this morning, the deep red of the maple trees hugged the shoulder as the sun lit my path. I took a deep breath and let the moment run through my veins and wash over my hair.

Just like the calendar, life is a series of seasons. Seasons have been a theme in our home recently. Not just the literal changing of the summer to fall, but the passing from one period of life and circumstances to another. Just like the flip of the page, the newness begins and the past fades to the ground. Sometimes though, it’s harder to adjust to the new season. Sometimes the changing comes sooner than anticipated. Sometimes there is no warning. What do you do when you suddenly find yourself standing outside in shorts when the snow starts to fall? What do you do when your comfortable life gets ridiculously interrupted? That’s what I am going to explore…..that’s what I’ve been walking through. A series of seasons I never saw coming and the life as I find my way through to the other side. Hope you can join along.

One foot in front of the other,

JJ

  1. I love your authenticity in your writings, Jen. Our loss (season) whether it be ie divorce, unexpected death/relational; physical ie cancer, orthopedic and/or emotional are all real, traumatic, painful and debilitating. Until you walk in someone’s shoes, you never know what they are going through. Moving forward each day one step at a time does pays off. You are truly an overcomer! You continue to bless all of us! However, life’s challenges can be a tough road but getting back up is what counts! We all need real love and support! There were times when I didn’t have the strength to even pray. Somehow with facing the reality of my challenges and realizing that I do not need to be perfect allowed me to, over time, really like who I have become and that is what counts! Thanks for sharing and being such a special blessing to me!
